1Nighter: Chicago for the Virgil Abloh: "Figures of Speech" Exhibit
Baby’s first trip to Chicago! (& by baby, I mean me)
Just driving into the city from the airport was enough to win me over. From the skyline to the amazing architecture of the buildings, the aesthetics in the downtown area were crazy.
I’m glad I went with a hotel instead of an AirBnB for this trip because I was really central to everything. Didn’t get to do the Skydeck or STK, but that just means I’ll have to go back :)
I stayed at the St. Jane, which, honestly, I wouldn’t mind doing every time I make it to the Chi. I truly loved it that much.
The decor made me feel extremely sexy, even fresh off a plane in an oversized hoodie and leggings and after walking around the area. I got into town super early, so my room wasn’t ready but they held my bag for me and recommended some breakfast spots. (I wound up at Miss Ricky’s in the Virgin Hotel - got the Egg-cellent sandwich, which was good, but them POTATOES THEY CAME WITH?? I have had many a skillet potato, but them thangs were at peak seasoning levels. PEAK.)
Was held at the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago)
It was really cool to walk through, but not necessarily type about, so here are some pictures that can say it better.
More @ the Museum
Starting with the infamous Bean (which is actually called Cloud Gate. I just learned this while typing this part out, I’ve been calling it the Bean for who knows how long)
